Creature Features: Bring unique animal encounters to Kokomo

Get up close with wildlife through hands-on, family-friendly animal encounters in kokomo.

Have you ever wanted to learn about diverse wildlife up close? The Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department has you covered with Creature Feature experiences, where you can meet live animals and discover more about them!


Throughout the year, Kokomo Parks brings in animal experts to highlight unique creatures ranging from exotic reptiles to gentle farm animals. Each event is held at Jackson Morrow Park’s Kirkendall Nature Center and are free to animal enthusiasts of all ages.

2026 Creature Features

Silly Safaris

April 18, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Silly Safari Animal Show will be highlighting an array of reptiles, birds, mammals, and insects including an Eurasian eagle-owl, a bearded dragon, a Burmese python, a Virginia opossum, a sulcata tortoise and many more.


Joy Journey Mobile Petting Farm & Pony Rides

May 9, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

A returning favorite! Joy Journey Mobile Petting Farm will be hosting fun farm animals including a camel, mini horse, calf, goats, sheep, alpacas, chicken, and a bunny rabbit. Pony rides will also be available! Visitors can get face-to-face and see these animals’ personalities.


Take Flight! Birds of Prey Show

June 6, 11 a.m.-noon and 1-2 p.m.

Wildlife Education will be bringing in unique birds of prey such as falcons, hawks, and owls and sharing their significance in history and the natural world.


Squishy & Friends Interactive Reptile Show

August 8, 11 a.m.-noon and 1-2 p.m.

Reptile Rex will be introducing reptile enthusiasts to all kinds of snakes and reptiles with a “close encounter” experience! The snakes and reptiles are breeds from Africa, Asia, Australia and South and North America.


Indiana Wild

September 12, 11 a.m.-noon and 1-2 p.m.

This interactive learning program will be bringing in an alligator, giant African bullfrogs, a turkey, a porcupine, and other wild creatures.


Animal-Grams Fall Petting Zoo

October 17, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Guests can meet miniature farm animals such as alpacas, goats, sheep, potbelly pigs, and more.


Wrangler & Friends

November 14, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Guests can meet the lovable Wrangler, a miniature horse with a huge personality!


Christmas at Kirkendall with Animal-Grams

December 6, 4-7 p.m.

Animal-Grams brings holiday cheer to the Creature Feature scene with a reindeer meet-and-greet!
