"Americas First Car" was developed in 1894 by Elwood Haynes. The famous inventors former residence now houses a collection of his possessions and inventions. A revolving exhibit of Haynes autos are on display in the garage and the industrial history of Kokomo is chronicled in additional exhibits. The museum houses a vast number of pieces of glassware produced by the Indiana Tumbler and Goblet Company in Greentown between 1894 and 1903. Over 2,000 pieces of glass are on display. Spanning 30 acres, the park has two open-air shelters, a playground, bank fishing access, and a 1.3-mile hiking path that stretches from the park to the Kokomo Reservoir Park Dam on 400 East. The park features a natural wetland on the south side of the property. From there, you can see all types of birds and other wildlife. There is also a handicap accessible fishing pier.

Old Ben, the Worlds Largest Steer, is on display in one of the pavilions in Highland Park.  He was 6 1/2 feet tall at the shoulder, 14 feet around and 16 1/4 feet from nose to the tip of his tail.  At the time of his death, he weighed over 4,500 pounds.  He set a record for his size, which still stands to this day.  Open dawn to dusk.  Admission is free.

Nickel Plate Trail extends north from Cassville (located north of Kokomo) up to Fulton County. Towns along the trail include Cassville, Bennetts Switch, Bunker Hill, Peru, Mexico, and Rochester.
